[ Just saying it straight forward. She understands self-preservation, and she understands that this brood is hers now. If they kill Petre, they're so far on Cathaway's shit list they probably won't make it back, and it'll set all the other broods against them. ]

[ maybe, someday, they'll bleed together inseparably. but even just looking at cathaway and prince, there's still such stark differences, and they'd been in a Brood rather than just the hive together for forty or sixty years. there's an allowance for control on there. ]

[ Her anger flares, a glorious pyre of utterly self-righteous indignation. So very unlike her usual cold distance and careful expressions. It was something easy to feel wrathful towards. Monsters. Demons. She's spent her entire life helpless before them, and now that she has the power to act, she is meant to step aside? If anyone thinks Petre's mind is ugly... they have not seen inside hers. They have not seen the retribution the Godking imposed upon those he deemed witch or demon, heretic or traitor. She would see that demon hanging from his neck, swaying in the breeze, toothless, eyeless. ]

[ that is, wow. okay. that's intense. it feels like he's just been gut-punched with the flare of rage that comes from her, the blur of monster and demons and fire and gore. topped out with the lovely visual of petre hanging, toothless and eyeless. the fury is a wall of choking smoke and fire, fueled by a life of torture by the hands of things like these.

it takes a moment for him to reply again, because she's right in that a compromise won't satisfy her. only petre's head, and that's not something sam can give to her. ]
